PM Narendra Modi orders for 1 Million government jobs by 2024
Central Govt told to work on a process for filling up vacancies
The government's decision to hire comes in response to the Opposition's criticism that they are failing to create enough jobs.
PM Narendra Modi instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the government in mission mode in the next 1.5 years.
According to the Seventh Pay Commission, the average intake of new recruits into the central government between 2006 and 2014 had been slightly over 100,000 each year.
The decision to hire million vacancies in the next 18 months to counter the Opposition's criticism on unemployment, expected to be held in April-May in 2024.
